Protocols for Health Supplements: A Complete Guide to Every Formula
Protocols for Health is Agape Nutrition's own practitioner-grade supplement line, formulated with Stephen Smith, M.D. and sold direct to consumers. The catalog holds more than 100 products, a core set of them currently in stock, in two formats. This guide covers what each formula contains, what the research on those ingredients shows, and where the evidence is honestly thin.
Who Makes the Line?
Protocols for Health is Agape Nutrition's own first-party line. Agape formulates it, owns it, and sells it direct, so it is not a reseller brand.
The line comes from Stephen Smith, M.D. Some formulas were also developed with additional integrative medical doctors.
Agape has sold professional-grade nutraceuticals since 1998, curating third-party practitioner brands alongside its own lines.
How the Line Is Organized
The line uses two formats.
Single-formula bottles hold one ingredient or one blend. MedPax daily packets are 30-day boxes of tear-off packs holding one day each.
The families:
- Foundational: Complete Multi Supreme, Foundational Daily Pax, Methylation Minerals (also listed under Methylation and B vitamins)
- Methylation and B vitamins: Methyl B-12 & Folate, Methyl-B Complex, Methyl Matrix, Methylation Minerals
- Gut and microflora: SIBO-Ease, Candidaway, GI Restore, SIBO Pax
- Cognitive: Cognimatrix, Cognimatrix Plus
- Antioxidant and liver: SA Glutathione, ALA CR, Hepato Plus
- Omega-3 and vitamin E: Omega 3X 1300, Omega 3X 650, Super E
- Metabolic and energy: Carb Blocker, ATP Spark
- Stress, sleep, and adrenal: Adrenal Complex Plus, Stress-Mood-Sleep Pax

The line mapped by body system.
What Is a MedPax Packet?
A MedPax packet is one tear-off pack holding a full day of a targeted formula. You grab one and you are set.
The format exists for consistency. It suits people managing several supplements, people who travel, and anyone with a shelf of half-used bottles.
Packets are also the highest-ticket part of the catalog: $102 to $182 for 30 days. Thirteen packet formulas are in stock.

Foundational Formulas
A well-formulated multivitamin acts as a nutritional safety net, not a treatment.
Public adoption of multivitamin and mineral supplements is high, but guidelines do not recommend routine use for healthy people. The reasoning: a balanced diet should supply essential nutrients. (PMID 42231909)
In the line:
- Complete Multi Supreme (240 caps, $53.40) carries 35 vitamins and minerals
- Foundational Daily Pax (30 packets, $102.90) is a foundational daily packet
- Methylation Minerals (30 caps, $21.99) supplies 11 minerals, with no iron
Methylation and B Vitamins
Active B vitamins are the point of this family. Folate and B12 are essential for cell growth, DNA synthesis, methylation, and one-carbon metabolism.
Some people carry MTHFR or DHFR variants that impair one-carbon metabolism. Active forms such as 5-MTHF and methylcobalamin bypass that impaired conversion step.
That is a mechanism. It supports methylation and normal homocysteine metabolism, and promises nothing beyond that.
In the line:
- Methyl B-12 & Folate ($24.99) pairs methylcobalamin with Metafolin L-5-MTHF in fast-dissolving tablets
- Methyl-B Complex and Methyl Matrix cover the wider B family
- Methylation Minerals ($21.99) supplies trace minerals for the same pathways
Our guide to MTHFR and methylation goes deeper on the genetics.
Gut and Microflora Formulas
This is the family where the evidence needs the most careful reading.
SIBO-Ease ($61.99) is an enzyme formula built to disrupt the biofilm matrix that can embed gastrointestinal microorganisms. The formula record states it was developed using in vitro testing, so that is lab-dish data, not human outcome data.
Candidaway ($34.46) combines oregano extract 300 mg, sodium caprylate 300 mg, ginger 300 mg, turmeric extract 200 mg, and olive leaf extract 100 mg. It supports healthy GI flora.
SIBO Pax ($154.80) is a gut-focused 30-day packet formula. Our article on supporting gut balance covers the maintenance side.
Cognitive Support with Cognimatrix
Cognimatrix Plus is the line's cognitive formula, and its panel is unusually specific. Per capsule:
- Vitamin B6 as P5P: 5 mg
- Folate as Quatrefolic 5-MTHF: 170 mcg DFE
- Vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin: 100 mcg
- Acetyl-L-carnitine: 250 mg
- NAC: 100 mg
- Ginkgo extract, plus Bacopa monnieri and phosphatidylserine
Bacopa and Ginkgo are among the most studied natural nootropics. A 2026 network meta-analysis compared them in healthy adults. (PMID 41678913)
Phosphatidylserine has been studied for psychomotor speed in healthy adults with subjective cognitive decline. (Innovation in Aging 2025)
Acetyl-L-carnitine has a systematic review in mood disorders, where ALC levels were found to be reduced. (PMID 42261369) That finding comes from a clinical population, not healthy adults.
Antioxidant and Liver Formulas
Three formulas sit here, and their evidence quality differs sharply.
SA Glutathione ($57.45) is acetylated glutathione in acid-resistant capsules, 200 mg per two-capsule serving. The European Food Safety Authority published a novel-food safety opinion on it covering purity above 97 percent. That is safety data, not efficacy data. Human efficacy studies remain limited. (PMID 42683004)
ALA CR ($63.06) is controlled-release alpha-lipoic acid with 450 mcg of biotin. It helps regenerate vitamins C and E and CoQ10.
Hepato Plus ($58.20) supports liver function and structure. Per four-capsule serving: NAC 600 mg, reishi 500 mg, cordyceps 500 mg, milk thistle 500 mg, Chinese skullcap 300 mg, schisandra 250 mg. See our guide to liver support supplements.
Omega-3 Formulas
Omega 3X uses a monoglyceride delivery system, and that is the whole story here.
Both formulas use MaxSimil, an enzymatically enhanced monoglyceride fish oil. The maker describes monoglyceride oils as acting as their own emulsifiers that bypass normal fat digestion, and reports roughly three times greater EPA and DHA absorption than an equivalent dose of ethyl ester fish oil.
- Omega 3X 1300 ($65.99): MaxSimil fish oil concentrate 650 mg per softgel, total omega-3 430 mg
- Omega 3X 650 ($46.99): the smaller-dose option
Both carry IFOS five-star certification for purity and freshness.
The safety conversation you should hear. A meta-analysis of 35 trials covering 114,592 people examined omega-3 treatment and atrial fibrillation risk. The increased risk appeared in people at high cardiovascular risk taking more than 1,500 mg a day, and lower doses did not show it. (PMID 42517224) That is a real finding, and our omega-3 benefits guide covers the wider research.
Vitamin E and Super E
Vitamin E is eight compounds, not one: four tocopherols and four tocotrienols. Most research uses alpha-tocopherol, but newer work suggests gamma and delta tocopherols and the tocotrienols have distinct properties.
Super E ($34.56) uses EVNol SupraBio, a full-spectrum palm tocopherol and tocotrienol complex. The maker reports an average 250 percent increase in tocotrienol absorption in humans from the patented delivery technology.
A systematic review of randomized controlled trials on palm tocotrienol-rich fractions supports the interest here. (PMID 38916919) For more, read tocopherols versus tocotrienols.
Metabolic Support and Carb Blocker
Carb Blocker is the line's berberine formula. Berberine is a plant alkaloid long used in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine.
A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis examined adjunctive berberine in people with schizophrenia and antipsychotic-induced metabolic syndrome, drawing on three randomized trials with 233 participants. (PMID 42433212)
Be clear about the limit. Berberine research is concentrated in clinical populations, not healthy adults taking it as a general supplement. It also interacts with drug-metabolizing enzymes, so anyone on prescription medication should check with their prescriber first. Our berberine evidence guide breaks this down.
Stress, Sleep, and Adrenal Support
Adaptogens are the through-line in this family.
A 2026 narrative review examined adaptogen use in exercise recovery, training adaptation, and performance, discussing anti-fatigue, antioxidant, and sleep-related properties. (PMID 42588175)
Adrenal Complex Plus ($31.45) per serving: vitamin C 125 mg, B6 as P5P 15 mg, pantothenic acid 150 mg, adrenal glandular (bovine) 125 mg, Asian ginseng 75 mg, eleuthero 50 mg, licorice 50 mg, and schisandra.
One limitation worth naming: glandular tissue is a traditional-use ingredient, and modern trial data is limited.
Stress-Mood-Sleep Pax ($153.90) is the stress and sleep formula in the 30-day packet format.
Energy Support with ATP Spark
ATP Spark is a drink mix, not a capsule. One stick turns water into an energy drink.
The panel leans on B vitamins, electrolytes, trace minerals, amino acids, herbs, and antioxidants, including 500 mg of vitamin C and S-acetyl L-glutathione. It carries 5 g of carbohydrates and zero sugar per serving.
The standout ingredient is a caffeine pterostilbene cocrystal. The formula record describes this caffeine as absorbing more slowly and staying in the body longer than ordinary caffeine. That is the maker's description, not an independent finding. If you limit caffeine, read the label first. ($73.99 for 30 servings)
An Honest Evidence Read
This is the section most retailer content skips. Treat it as the Protocols for Health review you actually needed.
Strongest Evidence
- Active B vitamins and methylation. Folate and B12 are essential for cell growth, DNA synthesis, methylation and one-carbon metabolism. (PMID 42689097)
- Omega-3 EPA and DHA. Decades of research sit behind these fatty acids, and the delivery technology carries the maker's own absorption data.
- Palm tocotrienols. Randomized controlled trials support the direction of the research. (PMID 38916919)
Moderate Evidence
- Bacopa, Ginkgo, and phosphatidylserine. Studied in healthy adults, but the literature is mixed. (PMID 41678913)
- Adaptogens. A narrative review supports the interest, but the research is broad rather than deep. (PMID 42588175)
- Multivitamins. Widely adopted, yet not recommended routinely for healthy adults. (PMID 42231909)
Thin Evidence
- S-acetyl glutathione. Safety data exists, human efficacy data is limited. (PMID 42683004)
- Berberine. Early trial data in clinical populations, and still preliminary. (PMID 42433212)
- SIBO-Ease biofilm enzymes. In vitro testing only, not human trials.
- Adrenal glandular. Traditional use, limited modern trial data.

Evidence strength by formula family.
Delivery Technology
Three branded delivery systems show up across this line, and each solves a different problem.
- MaxSimil monoglyceride (Omega 3X). The maker describes it as self-emulsifying, bypassing normal fat digestion.
- EVNol SupraBio (Super E). A patented bio-enhancing technology for full-spectrum tocotrienols.
- Quatrefolic 5-MTHF (Cognimatrix Plus) and Metafolin L-5-MTHF (Methyl B-12 & Folate). Active folates that skip the conversion step some people do poorly.
A fourth detail matters. SA Glutathione uses DRcaps acid-resistant capsules so the glutathione can survive the stomach.
The form of an ingredient, not just the milligram count, decides how much your body can use. That is the practical case for a practitioner-grade supplement line.

The delivery technology story.
Which Formula Should You Start With?
Start with the foundation, then add by goal. One formula at a time beats five at once.
- Cover the base. Complete Multi Supreme ($53.40), or Foundational Daily Pax ($102.90) for packets.
- Add the mineral layer. Methylation Minerals ($21.99) rounds out trace minerals.
- Pick one goal. Choose the single family that matches what you are working on.
- Switch to packets if consistency is your problem. The MedPax line runs $102 to $182.
If you take prescription medication or manage a diagnosed condition, talk with your prescriber first.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who formulates Protocols for Health supplements?
Stephen Smith, M.D. formulates the line, with additional integrative medical doctors on some formulas.
Are Protocols for Health supplements third-party tested?
It varies by formula. The formula records state the products meet or exceed cGMP manufacturing standards, which is a manufacturing standard rather than third-party testing. Omega 3X 1300 carries IFOS five-star certification, which is independent testing. For a certificate of analysis on a specific formula, ask the Agape team.
What is a MedPax packet, and who is it for?
A single tear-off pack holding one day of a targeted formula. You take one pack a day. It suits anyone who would rather not manage eight bottles or has struggled to stay consistent.
Is Protocols for Health a practitioner-grade line?
Yes. Agape is a practitioner-grade retailer and this is its own first-party line, not a mass-market brand. Grading each formula honestly is the better question, which the evidence section above does.
Where are Protocols for Health products made?
Agape will confirm the facility behind any specific formula. Ask the Agape team for the product you are looking at.
Which formula should I start with?
A foundational formula, either Complete Multi Supreme or Foundational Daily Pax. Then add one targeted formula for your goal. Build slowly.
Should I check with my doctor before taking Carb Blocker?
Yes, if you take prescription medication. Berberine interacts with drug-metabolizing enzymes, so that is a conversation for your prescriber. ---
