Why TA-65 MD Works Where Generic Astragalus Extract Doesn't
Every time a cell divides, the DNA at the very ends of its chromosomes, called telomeres, gets a little shorter. Think of a telomere as the plastic cap on the end of a shoelace: it protects the important part of the lace (your genetic code) from fraying every time the lace is pulled through an eyelet (every time the cell divides). Once a cell's telomeres shorten past a certain point, the cell becomes senescent and stops dividing and functioning normally.
This is not a fringe idea. It is the mechanism for which the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded, to Elizabeth Blackburn, Carol Greider, and Jack Szostak, for discovering how telomeres and the enzyme telomerase protect chromosomes.
