Adrenal Cocktails Fad or Hack?

Adrenal Cocktails Fad or Hack?

Adrenal fatigue, or adrenal insufficiency, occurs when your adrenal glands stop producing enough of the essential hormone for life, resulting in body aches, hair loss, and more. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Proponents of the adrenal fatigue diagnosis claim this is a mild form of adrenal insufficiency caused by chronic stress.” While blood tests are not currently sensitive enough to detect this slight change/difference, as the Mayo Clinic says, “your body is.” So, how do you combat adrenal fatigue? Adrenal cocktails have drawn our attention as a potential solution. We’ll explain the ins and outs of these cocktails and how they may benefit you!

What is an Adrenal Cocktail?

Adrenal cocktails contain minerals and vitamins that can help your body create the essential hormones it lacks. Typically created with vitamin C, potassium, and sodium, Adrenal cocktails are structured to balance your hormones and provide you with natural energy. Stress can also be affected by hormone imbalances, so an adrenal cocktail in the afternoon can help you stabilize without the crash that can come after a cup of coffee.

What does an Adrenal Cocktail Do?

According to the Dr. Lam's at Dr. Lam Coaching, “[The] main health value of the adrenal cocktail involves potassium. This is because it contains the cofactors required for potassium to work at its optimum and help in cell absorption.”

Adrenal cocktails contain three main ingredients; orange juice, cream of tartar, and sea salt. Even though the word “cocktail” is in the name, you can be assured that there is absolutely no alcohol in these drinks. Some recipes also make use of coconut water or aloe vera juice.

Vitamin C, found in orange juice, is an essential part of healing stress-related damage and fatigue. It will also boost the immune system and is generally a good vitamin to include regularly in your diet. If drinking orange juice isn’t your style, it is quite easy to find vitamin C in supplement form.  Sea salt, on the other hand, includes traces of electrolytes, which are needed to keep the fluids in your body moving. Cream of tartar has potassium, which is essential for most bodily functions.

There are various adrenal cocktail recipes to consider based on your taste preferences. Find the recipe that works best for you!

Note: Be sure when concocting your adrenal cocktail that you are not using ingredients or compounds you may be allergic to. It is also advised that you talk to your doctor about using adrenal cocktails to combat adrenal fatigue to see if it is a viable solution for your specific health needs. Please note that an adrenal cocktail is not a meal replacement and should be treated as a supplement to your existing diet.
