How to Prepare for Cold and Flu Season

How to Prepare for Cold and Flu Season

Even though we’re all far more conscious of our immune health and the spread of viruses these days, it’s easy to slip up on the basics. With flu season approaching, however, now is the perfect time to prepare your body and your household for any viruses they may encounter.

Keep It Clean

If your cleaning and disinfection habits have slipped since the earlier days of the pandemic, now is the time to get started with them again. Make a habit of wiping down frequently touched surfaces like switches, doorknobs, and countertops, and be sure to wash your hands before eating and when entering a home or business.

Eat the Rainbow

Eat lots of fruits and veggies all winter long. Soup, chili, and crock-pot meals are all excellent

(and cozy!) ways to incorporate vegetables into your diet throughout the cold months. Don’t shy away from fruits either. Fall apples and winter berries are great sources of vitamins and antioxidants that your body will be grateful to have when there’s a flu bug in the air.

Supplement for the Season

Including a few important immune boosting supplements in your daily routine can make a huge difference when those around you are starting to feel under the weather. We recommend adding vitamin D, C, and E, as well as an iron supplement this winter.

Get The Flu Shot

Of course, your best defense against the flu is getting your annual flu vaccine. Many locations offer them for free regardless of whether you’re insured, and they’re a vital part of keeping communities healthy year-round.

Get enough sleep

End-of-year pressure can often lead to late nights as we move into the winter season. Many of us may be trying to reach sales goals or fulfill our resolutions before the start of 2022. However this pressure, combined with holiday parties and stress, often means we aren’t getting enough sleep. Catching those z’s is a big part of staying healthy, so make sure sleep remains at the top of your priority list.

Create a “Sick Day Plan”

Now more than ever, you shouldn’t be going into work if you feel sick, so make sure you have a plan for days when that may be the case. Also consider how you will handle it when a child gets sick. Who will pick them up from school? Who will stay home with them during the day if they can’t attend school? Having a plan ahead of time will save you an extra headache later on.

Stock Up On Meds

You’ll thank yourself later when you have a stock of remedies ready should you start to feel ill. We recommend  Hevert Cough Relief Tablets, MediNatura, ReBoost Sore Throat Spray , MediNatura, ReBoost Cold & Flu Tablets, and Hevert Sinus Relief  as a solid relief kit, should cold or flu symptoms arise.

With a bit of foresight and preparation, you’ll fear the flu  season no more. These tips will allow you to face whatever winter throws at you while staying happy and healthy, and keeping your family at their best, too!
