Mosaic Diagnostics Microbial Organic Acid Teat (MOAT):

During the process of energy production, the breakdown of neurotransmitters, and natural detoxification, organic acids are produced. The accumulation of certain organic acids within the body can be an indicator that the metabolic process is being inhibited. This can result in dysbiosis, which is an imbalance of beneficial microbial organisms in the digestive system, and a lack of important bacteria. Symptoms of dysbiosis can include diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and excessive gas. Mosaic Diagnostics Laboratory Microbial Organic Acid Test (MOAT) is designed to detect the imbalances that can lead to these conditions.

Using Mosaic Diagnostics Laboratory Microbial Organic Acid Test (MOAT) is easy to use. The patient should collect 10ml of urine in the morning before eating or drinking. In the 24 hours before testing, certain foods such as cranberries, grapes, apples, raisins, and pears should be avoided. Juices from these foods should also not be ingested. The sample is sent to the testing laboratory and results are normally received in three to four weeks. The specimen must be collected and mailed from a state outside of New York. Results can only be sent to an address outside the state of New York.

The Microbial Organic Acids Test (MOAT) is included in the Organic Acids Test (OAT)and primarily shows metabolites produced by yeast and bacteria. The additional indicators are also yeast and bacteria metabolites. At lower test values, they are related to yeast or bacterial dysbiosis. Higher test values can indicate a rare genetic condition.

The MOAT is ideal for the follow-up to the OAT and may be recommended by practitioners looking for a specific abnormality, to monitor certain microbial balances, or to assess treatment efficacy. We strongly recommend the OAT as the initial screening test.

This test reports 21 components (including Creatinine) such as markers for beneficial bacteria, harmful bacteria, Clostridia species, Candida species, other yeast, and fungal metabolites, and general markers of dysbiosis.
